What you will be doing as the Tax Accountant:

  • Assuring proper amounts are withheld from payments and ensuring the withholdings are deposited timely to avoid penalties.

  • Comply with Withholding at Source requirements by assuring proper amounts are withheld from payments and ensure the amounts are deposited timely. File monthly, quarterly and annual reports reconciling amounts withheld with reports sent various tax authorities.

  • Ensure Compliance with Premium tax requirements by assuring timely and accurate tax returns, including estimated tax payments. License fees associated with premiums must be filed periodically.

  • Provide compliance backup while developing a working knowledge of amounts to be reported to policyholders and IRS on Forms 1099, 1042, etc., while developing familiarity with the computer system and Business Operations personnel.

  • Work closely and the State & Local Tax (SALT) Leader and Business Operations Departments

  • Filing monthly, quarterly and annual reports reconciling the amounts withheld with the various tax authorities.

  • Assuring timely and accurate returns are filed included estimated tax payments.

  • Providing compliance backup while developing a working knowledge of amounts to be reported to policyholders and the IRS.

What you will need as the Tax Accountant:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • At least two years of experience in withholding taxes and making timely deposits.

  • Experience with Withholding at Source and Premium tax requirements.

  • At least two years of experience in tax or accounting software.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Preferred:

    • Experience in performing tax functions in an insurance company tax department.

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or advanced degrees such as a MBA.
