Currently looking for a SQL Database Administrator to join a rapidly growing organization here in the Cincinnati area!
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Implement physical changes to databases; code and test SQL, applying knowledge of database management. Design logical and physical databases for Data Warehouse systems. Review and evaluate description of changes to database designs. Communicate or direct communication of database changes to affected parties. Understand impact of database changes and make recommendations as appropriate. Consult with project managers to design appropriate solutions.
- Also advanced technical experience in database administration, design, and data warehousing is required. Is highly skilled in software development lifecycle, problem solving, oral and written communications, teamwork, learning-on-the-fly, and desire to succeed. Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time and be very results-oriented. The candidate will be highly motivated and work well both independently and in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Clustering and breaking apart SQL and T-SQL Databases
- Designs database backup and recovery strategies
- Creates and enhances schemas
- Manages deployments of database objects and structure changes to various environments
- Establishes Data Access Policies, SQL Coding Standards, and Naming Conventions
- Designs disk configurations for databases
- Provides database server configurations and minimum server requirements
- Monitors SQL and T-SQL database performance
- Manages database projects for SQL Server platform upgrades and patches
- Possesses excellent troubleshooting skills
- Manages installations and configurations of database platforms
- Supports ETL/BI Specialists and application developers
- Mentors other DBA
- Performs code reviews of SQL and T-SQL
- Possess excellent leadership qualities
- Keeps abreast of new technologies and suggests their application to systems where appropriate
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 8 years experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator
- Thorough knowledge of Transactional SQL (T-SQL), PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Indexes, and tools for SQL Server 2000/2008/2012
- Expert in database architecture, design, and performance tuning
- Accustomed to leading projects or mentoring others
- Proficient knowledge in Windows operating systems
- Experience supporting a 24x7 environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client relation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a technical team environment
