Summary:                
The Software License Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining effective software license management processes to ensure a legal software license environment. The incumbent will be responsible for providing expertise and support for software license management and compliance efforts concerning risk reduction and assurance of cost savings. The Software License Compliance Specialist will be responsible for staying current in changes to vendors’ licensing models and metrics, and conducting research to ensure company keeps current with the ever-changing technology and information in the field of software licensing and compliance.

Ideal Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Five years of experience in the delivery of information technology services including procurement, asset management and contract administration
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of information technology, organizational structure and business administration, including the ability to determine goals and resource needs
  • Knowledge of ISO 19770-1, the standard for software asset management
  • Knowledge of information processes and technologies including the various hardware platforms, software facilities, telecommunications voice, video and data
  • Knowledge state procurement laws and practices relative to information technology
  • Skills to apply innovative thinking with a technical understanding of emerging technologies to address needs and problems of providing services
  • Experience collaborating with project teams to understand licensing and procurement requirements and make recommendations on how to best achieve optimal outcome
  • Analyze vendor licensing models and cost scenarios of alternative options to determine optimal licensing and deployment strategies
  • Knowledge and experience managing software audits
  • Knowledge and experience supporting an IT Asset Management Tool
  • Experience with software license renewal process
  • Experience with vendors including Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, IBM, Oracle and others to interpret software license agreements to determine necessary compliance with licensing metrics
  • Skills to assess and solve complex problems, devise methodologies and solutions and perform analyses
  • Ability to relate relevant information about hardware, software and telecommunications operations, data management and analyses in management applications and interactions and interpret results
  • Ability to clearly and concisely form and express ideas and concepts
  • Ability to interpret and present technical information and findings to varied audiences

Work Environment:
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This position requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
