Responsibilities for the Senior Network Engineer:
Providing production support, architecture, life-cycle management, configuration and maintenance of all the switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, wireless networks and network appliances and systems
Completing documentation and cross-training
Working with other teams to resolve issues and deliver solutions
Responding to network-related incidents, service requests and project tasks
Participating in on-call rotation
Monitoring system logs for anomalies
Working on assigned projects
Communicating any delays in the completion of projects
Providing oversight on complex network-related projects
Mentoring lower level engineers
Contributing to the annual budget process by documenting technical justifications
Qualifications for the Senior Network Engineer:
A bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field
At least six years of experience in a networking or networking-related position
ITIL Foundations Certification obtained within one year of employment
Technical Certifications (ex. Cisco CCNP, CCDA)
Experience with Network Performance Monitoring Tools (Riverbed, Wireshark, Solarwinds) and ISTSM tools and support
Experience in project management
Cisco Networking Equipment (Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K, ASRs/ISRs, Catalyst 3850, ASA Firewalls, Firepower appliances, Wireless LAN controllers)
Network Access Controls (Cisco ISE)
Network Routing Protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
Network Traffic Shaping (QoS)
VPN (Dell Sonicwall, Cisco AnyConnect)
Checkpoint Firewalls
F5 Load Balancers (GTM, LTM and APM)
DNS
Hyper-converged networking environments
Networking-related Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning/architecture
