What you will be doing: 

  • Support the Sr. Director Engineering & EHSS in overseeing the implementation and evolution of the EHSS strategy; establishing long term plans; collaborating with key stakeholders to establish and integrating site goals, annual objectives and programs of work as well as establishing EHSS goals and objectives, and supporting the implementation of programs to meet EHSS objectives.

  • Positively influence and collaborate with colleagues in order to embed a self-sustaining EHSS culture; sponsor and actively support the evolution of the site’s behavioral risk program.

  • Provide EHSS leadership, guidance and direction to Leaders and departments throughout the site. Coach and develop the teams to foster a culture of Zero Injury and Continuous Improvement.

  • Development, maintenance and review of company Environmental, Health and Safety Programs to ensure they meet and exceed both legislative and corporate requirements. Engage with customers to ensure alignment in objectives and service/performance expectations of the group. Ensure that EHSS procedures, programs and practices are integrated into business systems and operations; measure the efficacy of results; communicate lessons learned from investigations and other sources of information e.g. gap analyses, risk assessments.

  • Coordinate the EHSS team and wider site efforts to ensure compliance across the full range of EHSS aspects including: environmental licenses; relevant health and safety regulations; facility security requirements; process safety; chemical and biological safety (including Industrial Hygiene monitoring); occupational health

What  you will need:

  • Bachelor degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, Industrial Hygiene or technical field.

  • A minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety leadership capacity ideally gained in process or pharmaceutical industry – minimum 5-8 years in a leadership capacity.

  • Leading and implementing the EHS management system.

  • Have a strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of EHSS regulatory requirements and technical codes of practice. Particularly OSHA, EPA and DEA facility requirements and regulations in a cGMP environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influence, planning, organization, and time management skills. Strong leadership abilities with energy and enthusiasm.

  • Proficient in MS Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
